About the employer
Successful candidates will join the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), established with the mission of promoting technological development and advanced scientific training in Italy, while also contributing to the growth of the national production system. IIT is committed to tackling the most urgent social challenges of our era through science and technology, research, and innovation, always keeping people at the center.
Headquartered in Genoa, with a network of 11 centers across Italy and 2 in the United States, IIT carries out truly interdisciplinary research ranging from neuroscience and cognition to robotics and AI, as well as nanotechnology and materials science. This approach integrates state-of-the-art tools and technologies, enabling researchers to push the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.
IIT fosters an inclusive and diverse working environment, valuing the unique experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives of its people. The conviction is that only by embracing diversity can science achieve its full potential.
The team you will join
Selected candidates will join the Rehab Technologies Lab at IIT, coordinated by Dr. Matteo Laffranchi, which develops robotic technologies for the rehabilitation and assistance of people with motor disabilities.
In this lab, robotics is integrated with neuroscience, rehabilitative medicine, and interaction design to create devices capable of interfacing with the human body and adapting to the specific needs of patients. Projects are always driven by real clinical requirements and developed in collaboration with a network of national and international partners, both medical and institutional.
The team works on solutions that combine robotics, medicine, and human-centered design, adopting approaches based on digital health, embodiment, and active engagement (gameability).
