The client is a leader company in advanced wireless communication with two decades of experience in the wireless telecom market, both developing its own IPRs and products for private networks (3G and 4G) and offering engineering services to third parties (including the main worldwide Tiers 1). The company provides a wide range of product engineering services across multiple development platforms. It offers its innovative services in areas such as signal processing, algorithm design/simulation and DSP software development for multiple application contexts, including cellular networks, space and radar communication and automotive.
Counting around one hundred colleagues, the company is characterized by a dynamic and young work environment, where colleagues with different levels of expertise work together on the most innovative wireless products and technologies, combining their efforts and different skills to reach the goals. The 5G team is going to be involved in highly relevant projects in the upcoming years, regarding the software development of PHY level (L1), both for 5G and 4G. The team is desired to grow up to 20-25 people, where highly experienced and strongly motivated project managers and team leaders will be interacting with recent graduates and junior-to-middle seniority colleagues. We are thus looking for 4 or 5 motivated researchers or PhDs to join in the company's 5G team, with a medium level of expertise in the required technical skills.
Mansioni
The selected candidates will be part of 5G team. They will closely interact with different teams – layer 1, radio – and will be exposed to the complete 5G product design cycle. They will be responsible for the design and development of physical layer software for 5G base stations with the following main tasks:
- simulation and implementation of physical layer (Layer1) signal processing for commercial wireless standards and other commercial wireless protocols, including custom solutions;
- algorithm development for proprietary signal processing solutions;
- evaluate and improve code performances;
- develop test code and test cases to support software verification;
- communicate proactively with the team to discuss technical topics;
- review specification/technical documents and source code;
- document software architecture and design choices;
- interact with other team members.
Beyond the above tasks, based on their competences the selected candidates may be invited to join other company’s projects as well.
Competenze richieste
IMPRESCINDIBILI | Knowledge of C/C++; knowledge of embedded systems and DSP System-On-Chip; background in any discipline where the required skills can be acquired, such as Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronics, Physics, Mathematics; excellent written and spoken Italian; good written and spoken English.
IMPORTANTI | Knowledge of MATLAB programming languages.
GRADITE | Knowledge of signal processing algorithms; knowledge of one protocol standards; knowledge of test-driven development; experience with revision control systems (SVN, GIT); experience about 3GPP 5G/4G protocols; agile development concepts; doctorate or research background.

The company wishes to build lasting relationships, thus it's offering a full-time permanent contract.
Impegno
The headquarters are in Milan. It will be possible to have some short trips abroad during the year.
Retribuzione
Gross annual salary will be discussed with the candidates based on their experience.
